A fire breaks out, quickly engulfing most of your house. You only have a few minutes to save the things that are most precious to you. Your family members are all safe, so what would you take? A recent survey found some surprising results.

The survey conducted by vouchercloud.net asked respondents to answer this question: What would you save first if your house was on fire, aside from family members or other people? Participants chose what they would save from a list of answers.

Thirty-one percent of respondents said that they would save their smart phone. The smart phone was the number one item that people would save in a fire. Second on the list at 18 percent were pets and third on the list at 13 percent was cash.

Another finding in the survey was just how important electronic devices are to people. Of the top-10 items that people would save, four of them were electronic devices. Smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers were all electronic devices that participants said they would choose to save in case of a fire.

Many people have become so obsessed with their devices that they have become some of the most important things in their lives. Such an obsession can lead to negative consequences in life. Addiction to smartphones and other electronic devices has been linked to depression, anxiety, and other behavioral complications.

If you feel like you are addicted to your smartphone or other electronic devices, consider cutting back on the amount of time you spend on them. Net Nanny can monitor the time you spend on the internet and block any websites that excessively consume your time. This will keep you from becoming obsessed with your phone and protect you from the negative consequences that come from internet addiction.
