So with all the new innovated apps sweeping the nation, you would assume that Facebook would lose some popularity with today’s youth, but that actually isn’t the case. In fact, Teens are using the platform more than ever. According to a recent November UBS Evidence Lab survey, 65% of Teens admitted to using the platform daily, which is up 6% from 2014.
Even though Facebook may not seem as popular as other social media icons it still stands tall with the competition. The reason it doesn’t seem as favorable with Teens is because according to Cnet news, Teens believe, “Facebook has become a social network that's often too complicated, too risky, and, above all, too overrun by parents to give teens the type of digital freedom or release they crave.”
With that being said, among Teens Facebook still ranks as the number one platform, followed by Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube. It was also found that about 1/3 teens said their usage of the social giant has grown over the previous year as recorded by the RBC Capital Markets Survey.
Although Usage within the platform is up, that doesn’t mean teens view it as the ideal social platform. Only about 13% of teens say it’s their most preferred social network, in contrast to other teens that say its Snapchat, and Instagram.
Teens were also found to likely to engage in & share advertisements on Facebook. About 44% of Teens said they tagged, commented and liked the advertisements, which are up from the past year. Also, Teens visiting ad stores and ad sites has also increased during the same period.
So even though Teens may not be fully immersed with Facebook, they're definitely using it, as it is still one of the highest used apps to date and is still growing.
