Forgot Net Nanny Password

Net Nanny 5.1.x • 11 April 2006

This article refers to an older version of this product.

We can reset the Net Nanny Password for you.

What you will need to do is right click on the Net Nanny icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of your desktop), and go to "Net Nanny Settings". It will ask you for you password. Click OK, then it will ask you again. Click on "Forgot Password". It will generate a 12 digit group of letters and numbers (authorization string). If it does not, try hitting CTRL-ALT-S simultaneously at this point. You will need to copy down this string and email it to us. We will email you back with an authorization password that will unlock it.

Make sure to keep the screen with the authorization string open on your computer until we send you the authorization password.

When you receive the authorization password from us, you will need to enter it in the box under the box that generated the string. This will reset your password and allow you to enter a new one. Make sure the new password is between 6-8 characters long.

It is important that you DO NOT close the "Forgot Password" box while you are waiting for the authorization password. If you close the box, and re-open it, it will regenerate a new string, and you will have to send this to us.

You can "switch" Windows by hitting ALT-TAB.

PLEASE PROVIDE CONTACT INFORMATION for the adult in the home or the code will NOT be returned.

If the above process does not work, please email us back with the following information:

Your version of Windows
Your version of Net Nanny, and whether you are using the trial version or the full version
Any error codes or messages you see
A string of events leading to the problem
