Ad-Free isn't blocking pop-ups

This article refers to a product no longer developed by ContentWatch.

First, click on the Ad-Free icon and go to "Edit Ad-Free Settings". Make sure the boxes next to "Block advertisements/spyware" and "Block pop-ups and pop-unders" and "block Cookies" are all checked.

Then go to your Internet Explorer => Tools menu => Internet Options. Click on "Delete cookies" and Delete files".

Then, you will need to remove all advertising and spyware from your machine; you can do this by going to www.download.com and finding "Ad Aware", then running it on your system and removing any spyware that's hanging around. Spyware is advertising that's installed against your knowledge on your computer and that affects which advertisements you see when you're online.

Then, go to the Start menu => programs => Net Nanny's Ad-free => Ad-Free Update Wizard, and do an update.

The Wizard will check to see if an update is available, if so the latest version of the Ad-Free program will be downloaded and installed.

If an update is available new filter update lists will also be placed in the "NewLists" folder on your computer. To go ahead and install the new lists go to the File menu in Ad-Free and select "List Update", select the only file that should be there: "AFUpdateLists", and click open.

This should get rid of the pop ups that you are seeing. To manually block specific ads and pop-ups, please see "Why aren't all pop-up ads blocked by Ad-Free?" http://www.netnanny.com/p/page?sb=techfaq&id=501000000000RFa and "Why aren't all banner ads blocked by Ad-Free?" http://www.netnanny.com/p/page?sb=techfaq&id=501000000000RFZ.

If the pop-ups say "Messenger Service" at the top, please see http://www.netnanny.com/p/page?sb=techfaq&id=501000000000RFM for instructions.
