The following are our recommendations for the web page content categories to set for block, warn, or allow, using Net Nanny. These recommendations are based on years of experience and feedback from customers.

Note: 

"Block" = the person browsing the web will be blocked from viewing (not allowed to view) the web page requested.

"Warn" = the person browsing the web will be warned that the web site requested is not recommended, but the person can proceed from viewing the web page, if desired.

"Allow" = the person browsing the web will be allowed to view the web page requested.

Our recommendations

Child: Ages 4-7
a. Categories to Block: abortion, alcohol, anime, dating, death/gore, drugs, gambling, lingerie/swimsuits, mature, nudity, pornography, profanity, provocative, proxy, sexual health, suicide, tobacco, and weapons.
b. Profanity: Block

Pre-Teen: Ages 8-12
a. Categories to Block: abortion, alcohol, death/gore, drugs, gambling, mature, nudity, pornography, provocative, proxy, suicide, tobacco, and weapons.
b. Categories Warned: anime, dating, lingerie/swimsuits, sexual health.
c. Profanity: Mask

Teen: Ages 13-17
a. Categories to Block: alcohol, drugs, gambling, mature, nudity, pornography, proxy, tobacco.
b. Categories to Warn: abortion, death/gore, sexual health, suicide, weapons.
c. Categories to Allow: anime, dating, lingerie/swimsuits, provocative.
d. Profanity: Mask

Adult: Ages 18+
a. Categories to Block: pornography, proxy.
b. Categories to Warn: none
c. Categories to Allow: abortion, alcohol, anime, dating, death/gore, drugs, gambling, lingerie/swimsuits, mature, nudity, profanity, provocative, sexual health, suicide, tobacco, and weapons.
d. Profanity: Allow
