Covenant Eyes Internet Accountability released its annual report on pornography statistics and the numbers are eye-opening.

Since the start of 2014, there have been over one billion searches for pornography. These searches are no longer just happening on a computer or laptop. One in five searches for pornography is from a mobile device and mobile adult subscriptions are expected to reach $1 billion by 2015.

The porn industry is huge, generating $13 billion of revenue every year, with Internet porn bringing in $3 billion. 69% of pay-per-view Internet content is pornographic. However, porn revenue has been cut in half since 2007 because of how much free porn is online.

Pornography affects everyone in the family. 90% of boys have been exposed to pornography as teenagers and 60% of girls have been exposed to pornography. Most boys had their first exposure to pornography at 12 years old. For young adults, 68% of young men view pornography every week. Nearly 85% of young adult men and about half of young adult women view pornography at least monthly. And 56% of divorce cases involve one person being obsessive over pornography.

Other stats from the report include:

  • 51% of male college students first viewed pornography before the age of 12
  • 67% of young adult men and almost half of young adult women say viewing pornography is acceptable
  • Parents with teen children are 45% less likely to view pornography
  • About 19% of 18-24 year olds have sent a sext message

Pornography has become such a prevalent part of society that it’s important to protect your children from the adverse effects of pornography and discuss it with your children. Net Nanny provides an internet filter that can block unwanted pornographic websites on your computer and mobile devices.
