If anyone is curious, it doesn't work on Windows 7. You can't get to the internet at all, even in Admin mode.

Windows 7 is not a supported platform at this time. We will have a Windows 7 version by the time Windows 7 is fully released by Microsoft.

I get the same results as the original poster. It was present during the upgrade and the first time I tried to access the Internet with IE8 I just got a blank screen. I left the screen up and uninstalled Net Nanny and Bingo! IE finally presented the page. I then tried to re-install Net Nanny and it fails on the C++ distribution install.

If the Visual C++ installation is failing, try installing it directly from Microsoft using the link below and then reinstalling Net Nanny
Net Nanny will have a Windows 7 available by the time Window 7 is fully released.

I'll try that.
I'm scratching my head though... Windows 7 is out. My release is the full release. Are you meaning your update will be out by the time is hits the store shelves? That's got to be soon...

Actually, only the Release Candidate is out. Windows 7 will not be officially released until October 22. Microsoft has made a big push to get lots of people using the Release Candidate and that is what you're using. But the actual release date is what we base our development schedule on.
We won't be Windows 7 compatible until our next release, but if you are using Windows 7 and can't get to the internet with Internet Explorer you can turn off Protected Mode and it should work fine.
To turn off Protected Mode, double click on the words Protected Mode in the bottom right hand corner of the browser and that will popup a window with the option to uncheck Enable Protected Mode. Once this is unchecked and the browser is refreshed, the internet should work.
This should all be resolved by the time we have our next release that will be fully Windows 7 compatible.

My son's laptop has windows 7 and we would like to purchase your product, but are wondering if we should wait until the next release so that it will work properly.

The decision to buy Net Nanny for Windows 7 would need to be up to you as it is not a supported platform yet. We hope to have a Windows compatible version out within 6 to 8 weeks.

You shouldn't worry about waiting until the release of Net Nanny for Windows 7.
Net Nanny is a subscription product, and upgrades are included during your subscription.
So purchase today, and when the new version is available, upgrade or get an additional seat for the new machine.

Windows 7 is not only release in a RC form. It's out via RTM (Release to Manufacturer) That means it's going to be on new shipping PCs. You guys need to pick up the pace... It's not like Microsoft has been keeping Window 7 a secret. It's been available in BETA and RC candidates for a long time.

Sorry I wasn't more clear- I meant that Windows 7 is not in consumers' hands except as part of the Beta and RC programs- I have it myself. But it won't be shipped on new computers or sold or distributed until October 22.
It's a tricky change in the software development industry- it's one thing to have everything ready by a certain date, but when Microsoft allows everyone that wants it to download the new Windows before that date, it makes that date (almost) meaningless. For those having trouble with Windows 7 and Net Nanny, I feel your pain and we're working on it as quickly as we can.

I am using Vista with all Windows updates installed and just upgraded Net Nanny 6.0.4.9. IE 8 no longer loads a page - even when protect mode is taken off. Chrome and Safari work just fine. Any thoughts?

Will Windows 7 version of net nanny support 64bit version of windows? - Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions - though tedious and painful at times...

Net Nanny cannot filter the 64bit web browser, but the latest version allows the Admin to block access to 64bit applications from accessing the internet.

I've downloaded the latest the ContentWatch for my Windows 7, and when I tried to install it, a message told me I have to use "Check for Updates" from Net Nanny. When I tried to "Check for Updates" from Net Nanny I got the message "Unable to launch the ContentWatch Updater!". Please help. I've just upgraded my OS from Vista to Windows 7.

Right click the Net Nanny icon in your system tray and choose 'About'. What version does it show? If it is not version 6.0.5 please remove the program and go to www.netnanny.com and login to My Account as a Returning User. The download for the latest version is always stored there.

I have just started to use 64 bit Windows 7 and i noticed that with default settings, Net nanny was blocking 64bit applications from accessing the internet.
I know i can disable this 'block', but i am curious to know why this block was placed there in the first place?

Net Nanny cannot filter the 64bit browser, so the option to Block 64bit internet applications will not allow users to surf the 64bit browser unfiltered.
