Did you know that Net Nanny is making a difference and creating online peace of mind all around the world? One of our latest successes is in Sri Lanka.
We are very excited to be a part of Web Patashala, an online learning tool aimed at supplementing the education of students in Grade 4 to Ordinary Level nationwide in Sri Lanka. It is expected that as kids take part in this e-learning experience at home, parents will also have the opportunity to participate in the learning process. Teachers can greatly benefit from the program as well, using the content to prepare for classes and refresh their own knowledge.
The program was launched earlier this year and, facilitated by the State Trading Corporation (STC), is utilizing the participation of a number of companies under the direction of the Education Ministry. Web Patashala is being sold as a bundle including an HP notebook PC, Etisalat mobile internet connection, modem, the e-learning content which will be maintained by the National Institute of Education (NIE), and Net Nanny.
One Sri Lankan newspaper article covering the launch of Web Patashala said, “Net Nanny is known the world over as the best content-control software brand on the market; it allows teachers and parents to control access that children have to the Internet and make sure that it is a safe space for children to learn in.”
Web Patashala aims to broaden the span of education in Sri Lanka to difficult-to-reach rural areas, give users access to educational material from the national syllabus, and increase national Information and Communications Technology (ICT) literacy rates. We are proud to be part of these efforts to empower students, teachers, and parents!
