Moms More Connected to Mobile, or Addicted?

A report released by Mojiva reveals that 33% of U.S. moms own a tablet, phone, or other connected device. Just how engaged are moms with their tablets and phones?

Moms with mobile devices:

  • Spend an average of 6.1 hours per day on their smartphones and 51% say they are addicted to their device
  • Access the web from mobile devices 40% more today than in 2009
  • The third of moms who don't own a smartphone can be found spending an average of 2.5 hours per day on their devices, 10% owning an iPad, 10% owning a Kindle, and 6% owning an iPod Touch.
  • In a survey of 1,500 tablet-owning moms, 97% made a purchase using their tablet in the last month.

All of this time spent connected on mobile devices isn't for lack of a busy lifestyle, either. 40% of the mobile demographic has a university degree or higher, 50% work full-time and 62% work.

With the increase in moms who use mobile devices, it is likely that the number of younger people using those same devices will increase too. As this occurs, it is extremely important that moms take charge and use parental controls software to manage and monitor the mobile device activity to protect children. Most importantly, parents should communicate with their kids and set the example of mobile device usage that they want their kids to follow.
