Google Helps Spread Amber Alerts

Google is now displaying local Amber Alerts on its search and Maps pages as part of the Google Public Alerts platform. It joins Facebook, which already has an opt-in feature that publishes Amber Alerts as part of users’ newsfeeds. When users do a search for related information in a location where an alert has been issued, they’ll see the Amber Alert. The alerts, issued by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, provide information about the abducted child and the abductor. Google is also working with Missing Children Europe and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection to expand this to other countries.

We here at Net Nanny appreciate Google’s efforts to help keep children safe. We urge you to use Facebook and Google’s alerts to help find missing children. If you’re worried about your child’s safety, Net Nanny is more than just the best internet filter for families; it has been used to help prevent abductions before they could happen.

I work for Net Nanny and all opinions are my own.
