Parents have thus instituted means to protect their children from predators in this new great unknown. Often, programs installed into the computer do this kind of "work" and have proven to be successful. Sadly, one of the makers of these safety measures has used this in for their very own nefarious benefit. Echometrix is the company that markets software to monitor activities on the computer. Instead of just providing the safety net, the program sends the data obtained from the computer to gather marketing data eventually sold to third parties. These products are named Sentry and FamilySafe, and they do not live up to their avowed protection. Though they do protect children, they have a secondary feature of storing information that can be retrieved by the makers of the program. Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing, as the program uses the veil of safety to spy on unwitting individuals. Spread the word, Echometrix is a virus that kids should be protected from immediately. Not only does this violate a whole host of laws, it also is a clear violation of privacy not only of the individual user but also the child. The party that should be protected is actually being predated upon, thanks to Echometrix.
